Canon EOS 100

Canon U.S.A., Inc. was thrilled to recently announce the launch of the EOS R100 camera and RF28mm F2.8 STM lens. These new offerings are designed to be affordable, compact, and lightweight tools that cater to entry-level and emerging content creators, enabling them to enhance their skills and creativity.

The Canon EOS R100 camera is specifically targeted towards new mirrorless camera users, as well as existing interchangeable camera users who have previously enjoyed EOS Rebel or EOS M cameras. It comes equipped with notable features, including a 24.2-megapixel APS-C size sensor and the DIGIC 8 image processor. Additionally, it offers 4K (Cropped) and Full HD (Full-Width) video capabilities at up to 24 and 60 frames-per-second, respectively. The camera incorporates advanced autofocus with eye and face detection, as well as Bluetooth™ and Wi-Fi® connectivity for seamless sharing and remote control. For users transitioning from smartphone photography to their first interchangeable lens camera, the EOS R100 provides the advantage of lens selection. It is compatible with the full lineup of RF and RF-S lenses, while EF and EF-S lenses can be used with one of the three available Canon EF-EOS R mount adapters.

Accompanying the EOS R100 is the Canon RF28mm F2.8 STM lens, a compact and affordable option suitable for both amateur and enthusiast photographers using Full-Frame and APS-C cameras. This "pancake" style lens offers a minimum focusing distance of 9.1 inches (0.23m) and a maximum magnification of 0.17x. Its retracting feature helps to reduce the overall length of the lens, making it highly portable. The lens includes a circumferential manual focus mode/control ring selector, ensuring convenient control and adjustment. With its gear-type STM motor, it provides smooth autofocus performance ideal for capturing video. Additionally, the built-in Control Ring offers quick access to various camera controls, enhancing shooting efficiency. The lens's 7-blade circular aperture enables stunningly blurred backgrounds and beautiful bokeh effects.

The Canon EOS R100 camera is set to be available in July 2023. The estimated retail prices are $479.99 for the body only, $599.99 with the RF-S18-45mm F4.5-6.3 IS STM lens, and $829.99 with the RF-S18-45mm F4.5-6.3 IS STM and RF-S55-210mm F5-7.1 IS STM lenses*. The RF28mm F2.8 STM lens is also scheduled for release in July 2023, with an estimated retail price of $299.99*.

Canon's introduction of the EOS R100 camera and RF28mm F2.8 STM lens reflects their commitment to providing accessible tools that inspire creativity and cater to the needs of entry-level photographers and content creators.
